NLC announces a nationwide general strike due to the increase in fuel prices

 





The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has announced a statewide strike in protest of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration's policies, including the increase in petrol pump prices.

This was exclusively confirmed On  Wednesday. He stated that the nationwide strike would start on August 2nd, 2023

"Yes, on August 2, 2023, the nationwide strike will start. In that regard, we will soon release a statement," he stated.

The committee hasn't met since it was established to figure out palliatives for workers and Nigerians. The committee was solely established by the government to give the appearance that it was committed to doing something to lessen Nigerians' suffering.


"The government hasn't called the committee meeting, and labor hasn't been supported," said Onyeka.


At a news conference in Lagos last week, Tommy Okon, president of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria, also voiced his displeasure with the manner the government was managing the palliatives in the face of escalating problems in the nation.
